Your Transport Plan

It is important that you carefully plan your transport itinerary in advance. How will your Groom, bestman, your parents, chief bridesmaid, bridesmaids and you travel to your wedding?

To the Service

In some cases wedding party individuals may be staying overnight at the service venue which saves some arrangements. If this is not the case then you will need to arrange at least one but, more likely two or three cars for the wedding party members.

The typical arrangements will be as follows:

• The Groom and Bestman leave together, usually from the Groom’s home, and arrive at the church or service venue first.   Their car could be a sports car or modern executive car.

• The Bridesmaids and Mother of the Bride leave together, usually from the Brides parent’s home, and arrive at the service approximately 15 minutes before the Bride arrives. The Bridesmaids will wait outside for the arrival of the Bride whilst the Mother of the Bride is escorted to her seat by one of the ushers. Their car could be one that co-ordinates or compliments    the main bridal car.

• The Bride and Father of the Bride leave together, usually from the Brides parent’s home and arrive at the church or service venue last. The important car that everybody will see you and your Groom leave in for the reception.

It is possible for the cars to be shared if the distance travelled allows, but remember that if the reception is to     be held in a different location to the service the car will need to be shared once more.

To the Reception

In most cases the same cars that were used for transport to the service will be used for transport to the reception.

The typical arrangements will be as follows:

• The Bride and Groom leave together in the Brides car, and arrive at the reception venue first.

• The Bridesmaids and Bestman leave together and arrive at the reception venue shortly after the Bride and Groom.

• The Father and Mother of the Bride leave together and arrive at the reception venue last.

It is possible that the Bridesmaids transport to the service can be shared by the Bridesmaids, and Father and Mother of the Bride for transport to the reception depending on the seating capacity.

Leaving the Reception

The leaving transport only needs to be arranged for the Bride and Groom, and only if they are not staying at the reception venue.

The whole of the wedding party and guests are going to see the Bride and Groom head off and it used to be the Bride/Groom’s car, typically decorated with embarrassing paraphernalia. Nowadays with strict drink driving laws it is more convenient to leave in the same bridal car or a modern executive car.
